Security Technology Categories

The 2010 American Security Challenge is seeking technologies in the four categories below including cybersecurity, C4ISR, physical security and energy.  Many companies have technology that can be applied to security and don’t even realize it.

What is a Pilot?

A Pilot is a "test-drive" hosted by a Pilot Award Partner (the customer) allowing them to test a potential solution against real-world stresses.  These technology customers have provided ASC with all the requirements listed below and the items in bold with (pilot) noted have been prioritized for pilots.  If a Challenger’s technology satisfactorily passes the Pilot, the customer has contract vehicles and funding to procure further.  This pilot program is intended to help qualified (need, funding and authority) buyers and qualified (problem solving) sellers of innovative technology accelerate the procurement process.

The federal Pilot Award Partners are different groups within the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community and in the private sector include Intuit and ArcSight. For obvious reasons, some customers need not have their organization associated with specific requirements so ASC does not list any federal customers.

Pilot winners will be notified by September 1, 2010 and announced at our annual awards ceremony event September 23, 2010. Pilots will begin Q4 2010 with go/no go decisions targeted end of Q1 2011. Each customer may have different processes but all are driven to solve an immediate problem as quickly as possible.

No SBA certifications required for pilot awards. For SBA certified company only awards, see information regarding the Mentor/Protégé award.
