New "Pilot" Awards Added to 2010 List of Valuable American Security Challenge Awards
Washington, D.C. April 1, 2010 – The National Security Initiative is pleased to announce multiple “Pilot” prizes for the 2010 American Security Challenge (ASC) projected over $20M.
In its first year, ASC Chairman Roger London added $100K investor capital as a prize to attract the interest of bonified companies. Complimenting the investor award opportunity, in 2009 ASC added an Industry Partner for firms to team and subcontract with resulting in over 200 Challenger submissions and $10M of investor term sheets and teaming or contracting opportunities. Adding even more revenue/investment capital punch for 2010 are the 2010 Pilot Awards provided by large federal and Fortune 500 Corporations.
Pilots are a way for customers to test‐drive a technology before buying, and if it works contract with the vendor on a larger scale. “We should at least double last year’s $10M figure,” said Mr London, “the customers include different customers within the Department of Defense, in the Intelligence community as well as private sector “dual use” security technology users including Intuit.
