2010 American Security Challenge Now Taking Challenger Submissions

Washington, D.C. April 12, 2010 – The National Security Initiative is pleased to announce the 2010 American Security Challenge is now accepting submissions from Challengers.

The 2010 Challenge is seeking COTS technology to address public and private security issues. Those issues fall into four categories for this year’s Challenge including cybersecurity, C4ISR, physical security and energy. Federal and private sector customers have committed to provide the resources to pilots that “test‐drive” vendor solutions in a small controlled environment that mirrors the full‐scale scenario. These customers have also indicated they are not just tire kickers, but would like to discus contracts with vendors who perform to their requirements.

“Our objective was not to establish some demo or lab tests to determine a vendor’s performance,” says ASC Chairman Roger London, “we want the pilot to be the beginning of a long and substantive relationship between the vendor and the customer rather than the end. We believe this is a way to shorten the sales cycle, and connect a buyer and a seller who might not otherwise connect. This platform enables us to accelerate the adoption of critical innovation that protects our economy, our assets, soldiers and citizens within our borders and around the world.”

Companies have until May 28, 2010 to submit their information into the Challenge. Scoring and due diligence will occur June through August and winning companies notified September 1, 2010.

Interested innovators, sponsors and others are encouraged to visit www.AmericanSecurityChallenge.com for full information on eligibility, submission deadlines, prizes and other information.
